The Oman Ghana Trust

The Oman Ghana Trust Account hinted some decades ago by the late Ackah Blay Miezah- founder of the onetime Butterfly Party in the Third Republic, and a said relative of Ghana’s first prime minister and president- Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, has raised its ugly face again.

Ghana is said to have a massive $800 billion or some $3.2 trillion in a secret accounts in a Swiss Bank, says Gregg Frazier- an African American who has repeatedly claimed to have the secret code to the Account number 17-46-041, opened by the late President Kwame Nkrumah at the United Bank of Switzerland.

Until recent revelations to the Public Agenda Newspaper, on Thursday, 29 January 2009, Mr Frazier and the likes had made such earlier proposals to various Ghanaian Governments, particularly, to their respective finance ministers.

The late Finance Minister Kwadwo Baah Wiredu was for example, also informed somewhere in 2008 on this very issue, where he promised on a radio interview that every effort would be made to trace the hidden treasure.

Wishfully thinking, most Ghanaians believe that a found could redeem the country from its projected external debts of some $ 7 billion.

But some observers questioning as to why Ghana could not rely on such funds in the latter days of President Nkrumah’s administration which as some historians put it, was characterized by economic down-turn and food rationing.
