Ghana Mourns: President Mills Passes Away

Information reaching JusticeGhana points to the sudden passing away of Professor John Evans Atta Mills- the President of the Republic of Ghana.

Young John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills came to world on 21 July 1944 and recently celebrated his 68th Birthday.

According to the Chief of Staff at the Castle- Mr John Henry Martey Newman, the president passed away today, 24th July 2012, while receiving medical attention, at the 37 Military Hospital.

The President had been speculated to have died a few weeks ago, as in the face of sectional unrest in some parts of the country, no word was heard from him.

In the midst of these rumours- the president,on 16 June 2012, held a press conference, stating that he was alive and that he is on his way to the United States, for routine medical check-up.

He returned on 25 June 2012, stating that he was fit and well and promised vigorous electioneering campaign for his presidential re-election.

The president indeed demonstrated this capability and was seen visiting some parts of the country, including faraway Kumase, Ashanti Region, in recent past.

His sudden passing away has therefore, come with deep heart-felt and a great loss to the nation and the academic world.

Prior to the heat of the 2008 electioneering campaign, it was rumoured that candidate Atta-Mills, might not survive a full-term as president, due to his alleged failing health.

President J.E.A.Mills left a surviving wife and a son from his extra-marital partner.

By virtue [Article 60(6)]of the 1992 Constitutional arrangement- Vice-President John Dramani Mahama, shall continue to finish the rest of the president’s remaining term, which expires by mid-day, 07th of January 2013.
