CEs Spray Cash At Birthday Bash
THE DISTRICT Chief Executives (DCEs) for Sekyere East and Sekeyre Afram Plains in the Ashanti region last Sunday allegedlysprayed cash at the birthday party of a lady activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Effiduase, capital of the Sekyere East district, DAILY GUIDE has learnt.
Solomon Agyei Mensah and Kwame Asiamah, both newly endorsed DCEs, according to information, surprised many including supporters of the ruling NDC with the manner they splurged on the young lady’s birthday celebration.
Though the two gentlemen admitted to attending the said party, they have denied the allegation that they showered GH¢50 notes on the birthday girl.
The two DCEs, who stormed the birthday celebration together in their newly-released Nissan Patrol cars, virtually painted the woman with cash as if they had won a huge jackpot, to the surprise of party activists who were present at the ceremony.
Yaw Nkrumah, a branch executive of the party at Effiduase, who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, said immediately the two DCEs appeared at the occasion, the atmosphere at the place changed completely.
According to him, the two DCEs arrived at the programme in the company of constituency executives, and allegedly took out money in GH¢50 notes which they sprayed on the lady anytime a song was played.
Though he could not tell the total amount of money that was displayed at the birthday party, which is still the talk of the town, Mr. Nkrumah noted that huge sums of money were splashed by the two DCEs at the event.
He stated that he decided to go public on the matter because he was at a loss as to why the two DCEs, who were appointed less than three months ago, got so much money to spend at such an event when they had been telling party foot-soldiers that times were really hard for them.
When contacted, Mr. Mensah denied the allegation, noting that though they attended the birthday party, neither he nor his colleague splashed money as being alleged by a branch executive of the party.
He explained that he and his colleague decided to go to the birthday party as a form of motivation to the supporters of the party who had been supporting the party over the years, in spite of the fact that the two districts were strongholds of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Mr. Agyei Mensah indicated that neither he nor his colleague knew the girl who was celebrating her birthday and that it was executives of the party in the two districts who urged them to be present at the occasion in order to raise the morale of the supporters in the two areas.
He was confident that if he continued to boost the morale of supporters at such programmes, the party’s chances of increasing its votes in the district would materialize to enable it to consolidate power.
