Re: Internal Revolution to hit the Ruling NDC

Former President Jerry John Rawlings- the founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), calls for internal revolution- either before or after the 2012 general elections- to restore NDC’s core values: Probity, Accountability & Social Justice, which had been its main arsenal for electoral triumphs.

The founder of the NDC- Flt-Lt Rawlings who recently addressed the NDC national delegates’ congress which witnessed the endorsement of the sitting-president- John Dramani Mahama, as the ruling party’s 2012 flag-bearer, said among other things that the NDC might lose a host of its sitting members of parliament due to financial inducement that characterised its primaries.

The former president and the chairman of the proscribed Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), hinted this just before his wife- Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, was unanimously declared flag-bearer. Nana Konadu was the sole contestant of the newly-born political party- the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Chairman Rawlings; expressed mixed-feelings about the unfolding political drama which might have come as a consequence of mismanagement of internal political conflict and inability of the “poor” Mills-Mahama-led NDC, to correct the alleged injustices that he said climaxed what he described as Senior Kufuor-led NPP administration.

The former president; seems to suggest that the current NDC leadership, appears not to be righteous on this and therefore, appears frightened in losing the upcoming general elections.

The NDP national delegates’ congress is currently underway at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumase, Asante, the home region of Nana Konadu Agyeman- Rawlings.

The National Executive Committee of the NDP hinted that the party’s resolve to have the former first lady as its leader, is based on her unquestionable track-record in grass-root and international politics. Nana Konadu is the life-president of the 31 December Women’s Movement (DWM).

Nana Konadu who sees herself as an individual associated with unpopular decision had said that when elected as president of the Republic of Ghana, her leadership will be characterised by progressiveness, all-inclusiveness and above all, governance that put people over politics.

The controversial sole-composer Asebu Amanfe- formerly of Alex Konadu’s Concert Band, sang his philosophical music- oregye ne kyenie (s/he is claiming his/her umbrella.) to the amusement of thousands of delegates and sympathizers convened at the stadium.

Representative of most political partys; save the ruling NDC, are present to show solidarity with the emergence of the new party which until today, was conceived by the members of its sister party- the NDC, as still-born.

Stay tuned…
