A Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party has described President John Mahama’s nationwide Thank you tour as a guise to market himself and campaign for the December 2012 elections.

According to Sammy Awuku, President Mahama, realizing he was not as popular or well known as his predecessor, deliberately embarked on the purported tour to thank the people of Ghana for their support during the burial of the late President Mills while clandestinely campaigning.

Speaking to Adom FM, he wondered where President Mahama was going to find the funds to fulfil the promises he was making, such as pledging that works would soon commence on the Aburi-Nsawam road, when both the main and supplementary budgets had been read.
