Akufo-Addo congratulates President Mills
The 2012 Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, in a statement, congratulated President John Evans Atta-Mills on his election as flagbearer of the ruling National Democratic Congress at Saturday’s congress held in Sunyani.
Nana Addo, asked for God’s blessings for Ghana and her democracy ahead of the 2012 elections
President John Evans Atta Mills was on Saturday elected to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into Election 2012. He received 96.9 per cent of the valid votes cast at a special delegates congress held in Sunyani.
He polled 2,771 votes while Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, his opponent, garnered 90 votes, representing 3.1 per cent of the 2,861 valid votes cast. Five of the ballots were rejected.
In his acceptance speech, President Mills urged members of the Party to put the primary election behind them and to forge ahead with a united front to win Election 2012.
