A 50-year-old farmer has been installed the new wulomo of Amanfrom and Odumase – two communities near Pokuase in the Greater Accra Region.

details

The wulomo – spiritual leader of the Ga people in those areas – named Numo Osaadu Kojo III, is known in private life as Nii Djanor Kojo.

He replaces the late wulomo of the two communities, Numo Apam, who passed away six years ago.

Among the large number of people who witnessed the ceremony were Numo Lartey Lartey, head of the Amanfrom family; Nii Tettey Koblah, Nsakina Mankralo and some elders of the two communities.

The chief of Odumase, Nii Acquah II, who took the new wulomo through the swearing-in ceremony, presented him with a symbol of authority – a staff – after which he was ushered into a shrine by some elders and fetish priestesses.

Nii Acquah explained that both Odumase and Amanfrom are from one family. He maintained that their ancestors first settled at Amanfrom and later occupied Odumase – “Odum asie” – which literally means under the odum (oak) tree.

The establishment of Odumase by Korkor Sampah, was to serve as a battle base for Amanfrom to fight their enemies.

He said later some of their ancestors settled at Dome Sampa, Pampaaso and Achiase and had been living there till date, sharing everything in common as one family.

Numo Osaadu thanked Nii Acquah and the elders of Amanfrom and Odumase for the power vested in him and promised to settle the numerous conflicts and unite their families in six months.

He also promised to work hard to establish a public school and other social amenities at Amanfrom.
