ASHANTI REGIONAL Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi,’ insists about one million Ghanaians cannot withstand the severe economic conditions in the country so they have asked President Mahama to step down.

The NPP capo claimed about one million Ghanaians from across the country have petitioned President Mahama through the NPP’s office to exit the presidency so as to save Ghanaians from further difficulties.

Wontumi insisted he has in his possession a document containing the names and phone numbers of the one million people that are calling for the head of the President.

Addressing thousands of charged people at Abbey’s Park in Kumasi on Tuesday, the NPP chairman said the one million people said they were struggling to live under the NDC administration.

According to him, the people were of the view that if President Mahama bowed out from the presidency for a competent person to take over, their situation could change for the better.

Wontumi, who was addressing the sea of people that took part in Tuesday’s ‘Ya Ye Den Demonstration’ in Kumasi, said he supports the suggestion of the one million people for the President to step down.

PROMISE AND FAIL

He said the President and the NDC government had failed to fulfil even one of the numerous promises it made to the people during the 2012 electioneering campaign.

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Wontumi announced that the NPP had decided to donate three million school uniforms to pupils since it had become clear that the government could not produce the free school uniforms it promised.

He said the donation was geared towards making life bearable for the beneficiaries and their parents and also proving to the citizenry that even in opposition the NPP could still play roles to transform the lives of the people.

K’SI DEMO

The NPP chairman said the high patronage of the ‘Ya Ye Den Demonstration’ was a clear indication that the people were feeling the heat of the NDC government’s poor performance.

He stated emphatically that President Mahama and his administration had failed Ghanaians, charging the people not to give up hope since the NPP would win power in 2016 to restore the country to the path of prosperity.

FREE EDUCATION

He said Nana Akufo Addo’s ‘Free Education’ campaign promise which would see every Ghanaian youth climbing high the on the academic ladder, has not been swept under the carpet.

According to the NPP chairman, the NPP would win the 2016 elections and implement the ‘Free Education’ and other social intervention programmes to better the lives of the people.

MORE DEMO

Wontumi stated that the ‘Ya Ye Den Demonstration’ would not be a nine-day wonder, disclosing that more demonstrations would be organised in other parts of the country to lambast the government.
