There is no alternative to NPP – Damongo-Wura

The Damongo-Wura, Jakpa Lemon Tuntumba II, Chief of Damongo in the Gonja Traditional area has backed the New Patriotic Party and its Presidential ticket of Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the only credible choice in this year’s December General elections.

The Damongo-Wura made the bold declaration when the Running Mate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on him at the palace of the Damongo-Wura on Sunday.

Speaking for the Damongo-Wura, the Kasapo Wura stated “On behalf of the Damongo wura, his elders, chiefs, the youth and indeed the entire population of Damongo, I want to welcome you and your entourage for taking the trouble to come all this far to come and say hello to us. We are overwhelmed by the magnitude of the crowd that has come here despite the short notice of your coming. That in itself shows the magnitude and the belief of the people of Damongo in the New Patriotic Party.

"We are of the strong conviction that there is no alternative to the NPP. We are very happy that you have come here and we wish you all the luck and success in the campaign this year.”

The Damongo-Wura urged the NPP and its supporters to fight a good fight and not to rest on their oars till the party is finally declared victorious come December.

Speaking at the Palace of the Damongo-Wura, Dr. Bawumia said that he was at the Palace and in Damongo as a whole to seek the prayers and blessings of the chiefs and people of Gonjaland for himself and Nana Akufo-Addo for the campaign ahead of the December General Elections.

He was happy at the reception accorded him and called for support from the Damongo-Wura and his people for Nana Akufo-Addo and the Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP for the Damongo-Daboya constituency, Albert Kassim Diwura as the NPP had credible policies to transform the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.

Dr. Bawumia visited Damongo on Sunday to round off his seventeen day (17) day Northern Regional Tour and first visited the Yagbonwura where he received the full blessings of the Yagbonwura after being accorded a rousing welcome at the Palace.

The Northern Regional tour of the NPP Running Mate saw Dr. Bawumia visit over a dozen constituencies in the Northern Region including Walewale, Nalerigu-Gambaga, Bunkpurugu–Yunyoo, Gushiegu, Chereponi, Saboba, Mion, Karaga, Zabzugu – Tatale, Bimbilla, Wulensi, Kpandai and Salaga.
