Don’t compromise our chances in 2016 – Akufo-Addo urges NPP members
2012 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party has urged party members to desist from actions that can compromise efforts to win power in 2016.
Nana Akufo-Addo appealed in a statement Tuesday to party members to "remain calm and focused, and desist from actions that might undermine the unity of the party..."
Akufo-Addo's statement comes on the back of disturbances at the party's headquarters, Tuesday.
The mayhem, which started during a press conference, is believed to have been triggered by a directive for the acting Director of Communications Perry Okudzeto to proceed on leave.
The press conference had been called at the behest of party Chairman, Paul Afoko, to clarify issues regarding Mr Okudzeto's removal from office.
Read below his short statement to the party
"Like all well-meaning members of the New Patriotic Party, I have noticed with deep regret the events that took place today at our Party's Headquarters at the press conference addressed by the National Chairman of our party, Mr. Paul Afoko. It ended in unhappy and regretful incidents of violence.
"I want to appeal to all NPP supporters and officials to remain calm and focussed, and desist from actions that might undermine the unity of the party and compromise our chances for success in 2016. We are all members of one family and we should find a way to deal with our issues in a satisfactory manner.
"I urge all NPP members to promote the things that bring us together and eschew those that seek to divide us. We must, always, be guided and guarded constantly by an uncompromising sense of unity, fellowship and greater purpose."
Signed
