Charles Kofi WayoKofi Wayo Endorsed...

14 October 2012

Mr Charles Kofi Wayo has promised to provide more jobs to the nation when given the mandate to lead the nation in the December polls.

He said this after he was endorsed by the United Renaissance Party (URP) by a popular acclamation at the party’s national delegate’s congress held at the Dwabirem, Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Kumasi.

The URP’s first National Vice-Chairman, Mr Fredua Agyemang, who had declared his intention to contest for the flag-bearer position, earlier withdrew his nomination.

Mr Wayo said he would ensure efficient management of the nation’s enormous human and material resources to turn the economy around and that with his 46 years of experience living in Europe and being well connected, he would fix the socio-economic problems facing the people.

The nation would be weaned from its dependence on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, he said, adding that he found it difficult to rationalize why Ghanaians should be living in poverty in the midst of abundant resources.

He promised to be accountable to the people and work tirelessly to address their felt needs - good drinking water, electricity, roads and the others.

Mr Wayo appealed to voters to reject vote-buying politicians who would end up riding in long motorcades, receiving and exchanging pleasantries with foreign dignitaries, instead of visiting the communities to find at firsthand the needs of the people.

Mr Wayo urged the members of his party to intensify their electioneering campaign to win power.

The congress also elected the URP’s National Executives, Chaired by Mr Michael Okyere.

The others included Mr Fredua Agyemang, Vice Chairman, Mr Joseph Cudjoe, Secretary, Mr Kwabena Boateng, Organizer, and Mr David Amansunu, Youth Organizer.

The rest were Ms Mercy Nelson, Women Organizer, Mr Abdulai Moro, Treasurer, and Mr Ibrahim Issah, Communication and Education.

They were all elected unopposed.
