Dr. Bawumia Storms Tamale
The main opposition New Patriotic Party has adopted different campaign strategies in the Northern Region to boost its electoral fortune come the 2012 general elections.
While some national executives of the party are building the capacities of the Parliamentary candidates through a week long workshop, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, the 2008 NPP flag bearer’s running mate is meeting with various youth groups in the Tamale metropolis.
Dr. Bawumia who has been tipped by majority of NPP members in the Northern Region to partner Nana Akufo Addo in the upcoming 2012 general elections is making the rounds with Anthony Abayifa Karbo, the National Youth Organizer of the party.
Interacting with NPP youth at a popular base called information in Tamale, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia encouraged party members to have confidence in Nana Akufo Addo’s pledge to transform Ghana to meet her middle income status.
Dr. Bawumia who is currently an economic consultant to Zimbabwe tasked the youth to replicate Nana Addo’s listening campaign in their communities by moving from house to house to convince electorates to vote for the party in 2012.
After visiting some of the youth camps including Bakery and Kandaha, Dr. Bawumia and Anthony Abayifa Karbo accompanied by the NPP Regional Youth Organizer, Alhaji Rashid Salifu COP took a walk on some principal streets in Tamale.
The walk offered Dr. Bawumia the opportunity to interact with a few residents who expressed their delight in meeting face to face with the former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Majority of NPP supporters emphasized the need for Nana Addo to retain Dr. Bawumia as his running mate for the 2012 elections.
In their opinion, any attempt to substitute him might create more confusion in the NPP that is likely to affect its electoral success in 2012.
Whereas Asare Otchere Darko, Chief Executive Officer of the Danquah Institute is moving from one radio station to the other in Tamale marketing Nana Akufo Addo, the Deputy National Organizer, John Krugu on the other hand is whipping party loyalists to march the NDC boot for boot in the Northern Region.
