The Electoral Commission has said it is in the process of publishing the names of all persons who engaged in multiple registrations during the Biometric Voters Registration exercise.

According to the EC, the exercise is part of activities to clear the register before it is exhibited.

The Principal Public Relations Officer of the Electoral Commission, Sylvia Annor, in an interview with Citi News said “we’re in the process of publishing the names of those who have done double or multiple registrations in the print media and very soon you’d find them there.”

“We’d publish the names for people to know those who engaged in double or multiple registration but let me say that the identification committee is still working on the names. They need to establish the parameters for the double and multiple registrations to find out the real intentions of the applicants.”

She added: “Whether truly they did double or multiple registrations or there was some mistake somewhere leading to the appearance of the multiple appearance of the names in the register. All those things must be established to be very sure that the applicant really did the multiple registration before the name is published.”

The Electoral Commission has, however, said it will address all voter identification card related problems in its upcoming exhibition.

This is in response to recommendations by CODEO in its July report of monitoring electoral activities in the country.

Coalition of Domestic Election in its report asked the Electoral Commission to address complaints about the process of issuing the voter ID cards.
