NPP Rubbishes ‘True Statesman’ Story
The attention of the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has been drawn to a false publication by The True Statesman and subsequently carried by Ghanaweb, titled “NPP ‘Killer Squad’ begins operation.
The paper reports that a secret meeting was held between the NPP Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, the NPP National Organiser, Alhaji Moctar Bamba, and “a group” at the Katakyir Hotel in Takoradi, on the 22nd of September, to “plot their strategy for their ‘All-die-be-die’ ambition” “between the hours of 8pm to 11pm.”
That is a total lie and a fabrication, based on a figment of imagination of the paper. The NPP Chairman was nowhere near the Western Region on Saturday 22nd September, as alleged.
The paper, ironically, makes mention of the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo was at the meeting advocating for a power-sharing government. Nana Akufo-Addo on the said date, as all Ghanaians are aware of, was in the Eastern Region, specifically in the Upper West Akim constituency, on his “restore hope tour.”
We will neither ask for an apology nor retraction from a paper situated deep in the partisan stable of the ruling party and dedicated to publishing false stories on our 2012 presidential candidate and the leadership of our party.
We will rather appeal to the general public to, once again, ignore this false story for what it is - an unworthy story. We ask Ghanaians to take precautions as it is well known that what the NDC intend to do, they first accuse others first.
Ghanaians want practical remedies to the ailing Better Ghana Agenda and not practical, ugly allegations thrown in the public arena in the hope of diverting attention from the corruption, crass incompetence, economic hardships and growing unemployment being endured under this current administration.
Thank you.
