Former first Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has said that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has no ideology.

According to her, the ideology she started and built with her husband Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings has been mislaid in the party.

The party, on its website, describes itself as a “Social Democratic Party that believes in the equality and the egalitarian treatment of all persons with respect to their social, cultural, educational, political, religious and economic relations in a Multi-party environment.”

“The Founding Father of the party is Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings upon whose vision and leadership the Party was established,” it said.

But Nana Konadu in an interview with TV3’s Nana Aba Anamoah aired on Christmas Day, thinks otherwise.

“Are we a social democratic party? Are we? I don’t think so,” she noted.

The former first lady, out of frustration left the NDC to form the National Democratic Party (NDP) prior to the 2012 elections.
