An elder statesman, K.B. Asante, has said that poor planning has bedeviled development programme in the country.

He noted that Ghana lives in abundance of resources both human and material, yet the nation is poor, adding, the time was rife for serious planning into national agendas.

Mr. Asante was speaking at the launch of a book Titled: “Visions of Ghana-Decoding Development, An Inspirational Master-piece of Hope written by Professor Kwame Addo a development, and architect in Accra.

The 123-page book covers every aspect of national development spelling out the country’s vision and its resources and proffering solutions to the multi-facetted problems of development in the country.

According to Mr. Asante “those of us who lived during Kwame Nkrumah’s era are sad about what is going on today in Ghana. We must blame ourselves for our underdevelopment.”

He said if the country would progress, its leaders and citizens must revisit the country’s history and learn from its past achievements and failures.

He urged the country’s leadership to study the new book thoroughly and implement the visions contained in the book thoroughly and implement the visions contained in the book for accelerated development of the country.

Professor Kwasi Botchwey, former Finance Minister, who launched the book, described it as “an incredible book of pictorial narrative that outlines the biography of Ghana.”

“The book tells us our achievements in the past, what our true potentials are as a country and how to harness our resources,” he said.

The Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Samia Nkrumah, described the book as inspirational from the Seven-Year Development Plan of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, stressing that, “if the country can go back and implement the plan, Ghana can develop faster.”
