Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang, whose message was read on her behalf by Morrison Opam Adjei, the Deputy Director of Pre-Tertiary Education, during the launch of the second edition of the Unilever Ghana Idea Trophy Business Challenge in Accra, said government recognizes the need to create avenues for the teeming youth of Ghana.

The initiative of Unilever is laudable and falls in line with government’s policy of bridging the gap between academia and industry and also creating an enabling environment, according to her.

Stendert Krommandam, Human Resource Director of Unilever, averred that the programme is to help Ghana develop the next generation of leaders.

He said the launch of the Unilever Ghana Idea Trophy Business Challenge offers an opportunity to apply theoretical ideas acquired in the classroom in the world of business.

Maidie Arkutu, Managing Director of Unilever Ghana, who congratulated winners of the first edition of the competition, said the company was committed to rolling out life-changing products and programmes for the benefit of the citizenry.

The Unilever Ghana Idea Trophy Business Challenge is a youth initiative programme instituted to unearth talent.

The initiative, which is aimed at creating an out-of -classroom learning experience, focuses on the development of personal and entrepreneurial competences among graduates while working with the Unilever Brands.

Contestants in the second edition of the competition are expected to encourage Ghanaians to regularly use Lifebuoy by educating them on the benefits of hand washing with the product at five critical times.
