In addition, the leader of the NDC, President Mills was also not present at the function likewise his Vice, John Dramani Mahama. Organizers of the event did not give immediate explanation for the absence of the big shots in the party.

According to Multi TV’s Worlalorm Johnson, the rally grounds slowly came to life as supporters started filing into the place. He further added although the big shots were absent, the event turn out well.

The absence of the Rawlingses though not surprising further raises doubts about the former first family joining the campaign trail of the ruling NDC.

In the Upper West Region, Joy FM’s correspondent Rafik Salam reported that event was marked with a health walk which was attended by supporters of the NDC from the ten constituencies in the region.

The Upper West Regional Minster, Alhaji Amin Amidu Sulemani who took part in the walk urged party supporters to bury their differences and work hard to retain the party in power.

He added that party members must stay focused and forged ahead for victory in the upcoming elections.
