The Chief of Defense staff Lt. Gen. Augustine Blay says Ghanaians should have no iota of fear regarding the upcoming election since they are on the high alert to prevent any trouble.

He was addressing President Mahama Thursday at the Burma Camp on the President’s maiden visit to the Ghana Armed Forces since he was sworn in.

Lt. Gen. Augustine Blay says the Ghana Armed Forces have also been supplied with equipment to help them in this regard.

“We are reassuring you your Excellency that our borders are safe,” he said.

He assured that, with their joint operation with the police to maintain internal security, the required security would be provided before, during and after the elections.

President John Mahama who commissioned a fleet of vehicles and other equipment meant to help the military in the election, promised to give them the needed support.

He also called on them to be non-partisan in their dealings.
