Dr Paa Kwesi NduomNduom Lauded By Ekumfi Chiefs And People

A ceremony to distribute free solar torches to the people of Ekumfi Otuam in the Ekumfi District of the Central region last week Friday turned into praises for the 2012 flag-bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area, Ibrahim Kweku Dawson, asked the people gathered there to show love to Dr. Nduom.

The people together with the chiefs and linguist without any hesitation gave a thunderous applause in response, confusing the organisers of the programme who were probably wondering why the people were singing praises to Dr. Nduom instead of them since they were there to distribute free torches to them.

The DCE who was the special guest of honour at the event spent about five minutes praising and extolling the good political virtues of Dr. Nduom while the people cheered him on.

His action stemmed out of the fact that Dr. Nduom had built for them an ultra-modern community center with a toilet facility which served as the venue for the event.

“My people, let us show some appreciation to Dr. Nduom for giving us this (referring to the community center) because he truly deserves it. Where would we have held this had it not been for his kind gesture?” he asked.

The DCE noted that Dr. Nduom has surprised them by his gesture, saying even though he is not from this area, he has shown us what a great politician he is by giving us this.

“Politics is about providing the needs of your people to bring about development and this is exactly what he has done,” he added.

“He asked us what we needed most and true to his words he gave us this beautiful structure. We are grateful,” he said.

He charged politicians to learn from Dr. Nduom’s example saying, “if all politicians will learn from him, there will be less to complain about in this country.”

The community center was a promise Dr. Nduom made to the people of the area two years ago when the late President John Evans Atta Mills passed away.

Dr. Nduom, during a visit to the area, promised to build the center for them when they appealed to him to enable them use it as a place of gathering whenever there is a special event in the area.
