The IGP was addressing the opening session of a two-day national command conference underway at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

“The police administration expects every law enforcement official to exhibit certain professional standard of behavior and discipline which distinguishes him or her as an agent of the law.

“We must ensure that our actions and inactions [fall] within the ambit of the law and must always act fairly and reasonably,’ he stated.

“Bias in law enforcement must not be entertained. We must all bear in mind that we are law enforcement officials and not politicians,” the IGP emphasised.

He added that “we must stand firm and resolute by not allowing any political party or their functionaries to manipulate us to suit their whims and caprices.”

The Deputy Interior Minister, Kobby Archeampong also cautioned the personnel not to take the upcoming elections for granted.

He said each election year comes with its own challenges and stressed that the fact that previous elections have been violent-free does not mean the December polls will be same.
