Vice-Prez Alhaji Aliu Mahama Passes Away

Photo Reporting: Vice-President Alhaji Aliu MahamaVice-Prez Alhaji Aliu Mahama Passes Away

[Un]confirmed report reaching JusticeGhana indicates that former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama [pictured right], has passed away today, 16 November 2012, aged 66.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama was second-in-command to President John Agyekum Kufuor, from 07 January 2001 to 07 January 2009.

The former vice-president was reported to have taken ill a few weeks ago and until his rumoured death, was receiving medical attention for heart-related  illness, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, in Accra.

Former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, contested the NPP flagbearer race which witnessed a hooping 17 candidates in December 2007, to lead the then ruling NPP, in the 2008 presidential election. He made little inroads.

Until his recent reported failing health which was publicly made known by the sitting-president, John Dramani Mahama, which was robustly contested, he had been politically calm, attracting but little media attention.

JusticeGhana accordingly, awaits official confirmation from the deceased's family, the Ghanaian Government or the NPP as earlier rumours about the former vice-president's passing, had been repeatedly, disputed.

If this unfolding news were to be confirmed; then former Vice-President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, would be the second statesman, from the Ghanaian presidency, to pass away in recent months.

President John Evans Atta Mills passed away on 24th July 2012, while receiving medical attention, at the 37 Military Hospital.

JusticeGhana shall surely update its readers about the passing of the former vice-president as the news unfolds.

Stay tuned for updates..
