NPP Parlimentary candidate for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam is dead
The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary candidate for the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency in the Central Region has died.
Mr. Ato Quainoo died Tuesday morning after a short illness.
A former District Chief Executive of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District, Mr. Kenneth Obempong confirmed the death to Joy FM.
He said the deceased complained of abdominal pains last night and was advised to seek medical treatment at the hospital which he did but passed away around 2:45 am Tuesday at the Essikuma Roman Catholic Hospital. He was 49.
Adom FM’s Central region correspondent Isaac Ochem reports from Breman Eshiem that the family had gathered to discuss the sad passing of the parliamentary aspirant.
Isaac Edumadze, former MP for the area was too overcome by tears to speak to our reporter, same as Constituency Chairman King Obuobi.
However, Constituency Secretary Prince Ansah told Adom FM that the late Quainoo, after complaining of severe stomach pain, was eventually given 17 drips.
The late Ato Quainoo, who was also the NPP parliamentary candidate in the 2008 elections, served 8 years as Assembly man for Essiam Nkodwo, during which period he was Presiding Member of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district Assembly.
He is also the immediate past president of the association of Methodist choirs, Cape Coast branch.
As well, he was Assistant Director at the Ghana Education Service office at Ajumako.
He is survived by a wife and 3 children, 2 girls and a boy.
