I won’t serve in Mahama’s gov’t – Samia
The Chairperson of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Hon. Samia Yaaba Nkrumah in an interview with Citi News on Wednesday emphatically declared her intention to reject any offer by the Mahama administration to serve the nation.
“I don’t see how a party that worked hard to defeat me and succeeded to do so and now that I am out of Parliament will turn round and offer me any kind of appointment; we are talking about a party that worked very hard to defeat me, to eliminate me from Parliament and from the political scene, is that logical?”
She insisted that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), caused her defeat in Jomoro during the Parliamentary election for which reason it will be difficult to work with the Mahama administration.
According to Ms Nkrumah, even though the 2012 election results have hit a setback, it will not diminish the CPP’s spirit to win the 2016 elections.
“The election result has been a major setback but it has not in the least broken our spirit, our mission is to realize Kwame Nkrumah’s vision and until that happens we are relevant as a political party and we remain as determined as ever, we know that we shall overcome, we know that we have a lot of support, we just have to find the ways and means to translate that into votes.”
The CPP national Chairperson also rejected a leading member of the party, Mr. Nii Moi Thomson’s call for the CPP to unite with the NDC ahead of the 2016 elections.
“It is very normal that after every election there is talk about alignment, mergers and that is the name of the game but we believe also that we exist to unify this nation by defusing the tension that exists today nationally”.
She was optimistic that the CPP will win the 2016 elections. “We are as energized as ever to resuscitate the CPP to convince Ghanaians that we are relevant and that we have a role to play for the benefit of everyone in this country.”
