The government, he said, is confident more Ghanaians have been informed of its transparent governance as a result of its policy fairs.

The Information Minister also used the occasion to appeal to the youth to be cautious in their dealings especially in the run-up to the elections.

According to Fritz Baffour, “It is imperative that we device means to channel the exuberance of the youth to productive matters to enable us achieve peaceful elections. I therefore wish to entreat the youth not to allow themselves to be used by self seeking politicians to cause trouble.

“Ghana is our only country and … we need to protect it from violence chaos and violence. His Excellency Prof J.E.A. Mills, as we are all aware, has repeatedly vowed to ensure free, fair, transparent, and incident free elections.”

He said “giving the fact that the media is a major stakeholder in the organization of elections,” the President, “cannot deliver on his promise without the support of the media and indeed the general public.”

Information Minister added that, it is against this backdrop that “I call on media practitioners to uphold the ethics of their noble profession refrain from sensationalism that serves only parochial interest and incite one party against the other and one ethnic group against the other.”
