‘I Want Africa Cup’ …Otumfuo Tells Kotoko
OWNER OF crowned league champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has disclosed his happiness over the club’s 21st league diadem.
The King was however quick to note that his joy would be complete with Kotoko winning the next Africa Champions League.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu made the remarks when the Kotoko team led by Executive Board Chairman Dr. K.K. Sarpong presented the league trophy to him.
The Asantehene lauded the Kotoko playing body for making him and the entire Asanteman proud by conquering Ghana, urging them to replicate their shining example on the continent.
He said he was with the Kotoko team both spiritually and physically, adding that his outfit was prepared to offer the needed support to management to sustain their winning ways.
The historic occasion was held at the Manhyia Palace where a durbar of chiefs and people was held on Thursday morning. Thousands of Kotoko fans were also present to give color to the event.
The Glo Premier League trophy was presented to the Asantehene who sat in state, by the Kotoko General Captain, Isaac Osei, with support from his colleagues.
Kotoko Executive Board Chairman, Dr. Sarpong on behalf of the entire Kotoko team showered praises on Otumfuo for his staunch support, which went a long way to make Kotoko strong during the just ended season.
He noted that Kotoko had aspirations of winning their third Africa title next season, stressing that his management would do everything possible to realize that great ambition.
