CPP Women Demand Apology From Their Presidential Candidate
Female executives of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) are demanding an apology from their 2012 flagbearer, Dr Abu Sakara Foster for his poor performance in the December 7 elections.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson of the group, Madam Lucy Anin, the group accused Dr Sakara of collecting monies from other parties in order to reduce the fortunes of the CPP.
Below is the full statement:-
We, the CPP women, are demanding a public apology from Dr Abu Sakara, the CPP 2012 flagbearer; for his abysmal performance, which is the worst in the history of the CPP.
We point to the fact that Dr Abu Sakara, who failed to campaign effectively, polled only 20,000 votes nationwide out of the 11 million votes cast- a figure that comes close to the 18,100 votes obtained by the former MP for Jomoro and chairperson of the CPP in the Jomoro constituency alone.
In his hometown, Damango Constituency, Dr Abu Sakara obtained only 135 votes as against the 1,724 votes obtained for him in the Jomoro Constituency alone. So who campaigned and who didn’t and who should be blamed?
Two weeks to elections even the media was looking for the CPP 2012 presidential candidate. While others were campaigning in dozens of constituencies a day, Dr Abu Sakara was nowhere to be found.
In his attack against the CPP leadership on Citi FM, Dr Abu Sakara indicated that the new leadership must be ‘culturally attuned to the Ghanaian political space’. We wonder if he is referring to the culture of collecting monies from another party to sink the fortunes of the CPP.
We insist that this is not the culture of the CPP and the future of the CPP does not belong to people who think this way.
In any case, we demand a public apology for his abysmal, poor performance, which is the worst in the history of the party.
Forward Ever! Backward Never!
Long live Ghana!
