Adakabre quits radio... for a while
Adakabre Frimpong Manso, host of morning show programme on Hot 93.9FM in Accra, has announced a conditional resignation from the station and show.
Adakabre announced the surprise decision on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen current affairs programme Wednesday evening, when he called in to challenge a claim by Kobina Okyere Darko-Mensah, Member of Parliament for the Takoradi Constituency, who had claimed that Adakabre was responsible for an altercation between key New Patriotic Party members on Hot FM on Wednesday.
NPP stalwats P.C. Appiah-Ofori, MP for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa; Kennedy Agyepong, MP for Assin North and Nana Adu Asabre, ex-chairman of the NPP in the Asante Akyem North constituency were a chaotic lot on the station while contributing to discussions on developments in the NPP.
They attacked each other employing insults, and Okyere Darko-Mensah said it was the programme host who was fanning the apparent conflict.
Adakabre said he was taking a cue from a text message he had received while moderating his programme, which admonished him to stay away from radio if he wanted to enjoy his peace and give the NPP room to have some peace of thier own.
He said he had discussed with the management of the station to replace him for the next three months to see if those NPP personalities who clashed on his programme would no longer continue thier disagreements. In the meantime he intends to set up an office around the Police Headquarters where he would be offering consulting services.
