We Made Provisions For Nana Konadu - NDC
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the debate on whether or not the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, was invited to the party’s special delegate’s congress in Kumasi as unwarranted.
The spokesperson for the former first family, Kofi Adams told Citi News in an earlier interview that the former first lady was absent because she was not invited.
However, the party has said it did not issue special invitations for the spouses of the leading members of the party, but provisions were made for everybody in the party.
The Deputy Director of Communications of the NDC, George Lawson, in an interview with Citi News said: “We did not even invite the present first lady, her Excellency, Lordina Mahama, the second lady, her Excellency Mrs. Amissah-Arthur we didn’t invite them.”
“What we did was we invited the President, John Mahama and the Vice President Amissah-Arthur and I did that personally. We gave them special invitation for all their special guests and for the founder, I gave him 10 special guests and 10 observers and we did so for all,” he explained.
Mr. Lawson added: “I personally went to Kofi Adams and gave him the 10 special invitations and he asked for 10 more so I gave him 10 more. We didn’t extend invitation to their spouses; we gave them special guests invite for those who are to accompany them and so we treated them all fairly.”
He hence called on the former first lady to rather explain why she did not turn up for the event as provisions were made for all.
