Ghana leads 4:0, power restored, match resumes
.....16:53 In less than 10 minutes Black Stars will kick start their journey to the World Cup 2014 to be held Brazil.
16:58 Now the national anthems of the two teams are being played. Lesotho's came first, followed by that of Ghana.
17:00 The starting line-up of Ghana does not contain much big names. One surprise name in the squad is Harrison Afful who is making a return to the stars after a-two year absence.
Black Stars Line-up
Adam Kwarasey, Samuel Inkoom, Harrison Afful, Jerry Akamenko, John Boye, Derek Boateng, Dominic Adiyiah, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Jordan Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah, Sulley Ali Muntari.
01:00 The Crocodiles of Lesotho won the toss and Ghana are playing from the left end of the pitch. The Stars are spotting an all-white outfit and the Crocodiles spotting an all green outfit.
4:00 The was a near miss from the Black Stars after Dominic Adiyiah failed to convert a one on one opportunity. The Black Stars have started on a very strong note.
07:00 The Black Stars have shown their intent but Crocodiles have equally proven a tough nut to crack as they are defending their lines with all might.
08:00 Jordan Ayew showed glimpses of his father Maestro, Abedi Pele when he took on a Lesothan defender but no Stars strike could connect his cross.
10:00 The Black Stars have donated the midfield completely overshadowing their counterparts. Kwadwo Asamoah seem to be doing all the work with a certain degree of finesse.
11:00 A long range shot from Agyemang Badu missed the goal by whiskers. The goalkeeper of Lesotho was in dreamland. Perfect start for the Black Stars.
11:00 Wosh!!! That was a great miss by Dominic Adiyiah.
15:00 Goooooooooooooooaaaal!!!!! Guess who!!! It is the Black Stars prodigal son, Sulley Ali Muntari. It was a free kick at the edge of the penalty box. It was a short taken one and the ball fell to the AC Milan man who took a trademark left shot from the edge of the box which flew straight to the left top corner. Ghana 1 Lesotho 0
21:00 Harisson Afful is flagged offside. The Black Stars have maintained the tempo of the game making a series of incursions into the half of the Crocodiles.
23:00 Goooooaaaaalll!!!! It's goal number two and it is Dominic Adiyiah who scored. Dominic Adiyiah shrugged off a challenge from the Crocodile defender and took a right foot shot, the goalkeeper was no where to be found. Ghana 2 Lesotho 0
27:00 That was fantastic shot from Sulley Muntari. It seems the captain's armband is doing wonders for the AC Milan man who was in fantastic form for his club.
29:00 Great pass from Sulley Muntari to Harisson Afful. But the man who plies his trade in Tunisia is flagged offside. Nevertheless it was great pass, and a great run from the defender too.
31:00 Black Stars win their fourth corner kick but it is wasted. Kwadwo Asamoah's shot was wayward and did not pose any threat to the goalkeeper.
34:00 Samuel Inkoom took on a defender on the right flank but instead of taking a cross he wanted to dummy the goalkeeper. Wasted opportunity.
37:00 Sulley Muntari wins a free kick in his half. Just after the Crocodiles make a rare incursion into the half of the Black Stars but they could not go beyond the human wall.
40:00 That was a lame shot. Adam Kwarasey would not be troubled by that. There are still visible empty seats at the Baba Yara Stadium.
40:00 Jordan Ayew is truly living up to the hype. The boy is fearless as he took on a defender, dummied another but his flick on to Agyemang Badu could not find the target. Great piece of foot work by the son of the Maestro.
44:00 Jordan Ayew rounds up the goalkeeper and slots in the third goal for Ghana, Ghana leads 3:0. Jordan Ayew was fantastic.
45:00 That referee whistles to sums up an interesting first half for the Black Stars. Coach Kwasi Appiah will be the most happiest man on earth now as his first game in charge has truly been a great performance by a team that is bereft of key names.
The players are filing to pitch to commence the second half of the game. But with the performance the Stars have put in the first half, it will be safe to conclude that the game is effectively over. The Black Stars must now concentrate on their crunch qualifier against AFCON winners, Zambia in far away Lusaka.
46:00 The Stars have started the second half on a rather slow note. The Stars performance will raise the issue whether Asamoah Gyan's presence is still needed in the Stars set-up.
51:00 Goooaal!!! Dominic Adiyiah controls the ball beautifully and hits it with his left, beats the goal keeper, and Ghana leads 4-0. It's now official. It's a rout! A brace for Adiyiah? He must been in dreamland now!
53:00 And surely, the Kwasi appiah gamble is paying off. An Adiyiah brace, a masterclass goal from Jordan Ayew, can it get any better?
58:00 And this is an unprecedented disgrace, the day Ghana decided to play football, the lights at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium refused to work do you to power outage!!! Don't you just love Ghana?
60:00 It is unclear whether the match will go ahead. The stadium is getting darker by the minute. If you want a a definition of confusion, look no where else than the Baba Yara Stadium. This is Ghana's day of shame.
68:00 Surely, there is no justification for this. Absolutely none. Heads must definitely role! The last time I checked we are in the 21st Century, where on earth would this gargantuan failure happen?
The match officials are on the pitch and the match is expected go on. The Black Stars players on the bench are unperturbed as they appear to be sharing jokes.
I think I lost count there. Welcome to the second part of the second half of the game! The players are on the field stretching their limbs. Still Ghana leads. The game is underway. In all these Adiyiah would be the most happy!
54:00 Adiyiah wastes the first opportunity of the second half. Adiyiah could have helped matters if his shot came a bit low. Ghana's momentum has not been affected. Nice game all the same.
