Youth Groups Roam in Accra for Votes
A group of youths who identified themselves with their political party colours were spotted walking side-by-side on the highways of the 37 Military Hospital soliciting for votes for their respective candidates.
When JusticeGhana approached them around the Jubilee House while on foot to seek the views of some pedestrians on the issues that are going to influence their political decisions on the upcoming general elections on 07 December 2012; the 19-year-olds who said they have travelled with passengers car from Agona Asafo in the Central Region of Ghana to Accra that morning told JusticeGhana that they were motivated by their passion for politics and the vision of their respective leaders to move Ghana from its current state to a more prosperous future.
Whereas the NDC Youth thinks that President John Mahama could be a more peaceful leader in the running of the country, the NPP boy said that Nana Akufo-Addo could be more determined in fighting corruption thereby making much money available for free Senior High School (SHS).
Both boys informed JusticeGhana that their highest educational qualifications are Juniour High School (JHS) and that they are currently unemployed.
The boys told JusticeGhana that their parents and majority of their extended families who are farmers, and each have passion for the ruling NDC and the main opposition NPP respectively.
The boys said their travels had been sponsored by party faithful and sympathizers and reject the suggestion that their preoccupations are financially motivated.
Although the Boys’ endeavours appear to represent the current political mood whereby most of the youths are deeply involved in sharp political activitism due to perceived or real mass youth unemployment, many are those who believe that associating yourself with a political party or a politician is the surest way of making ends meet.
On the endges of unsecured construction sites where shoe-shine boys work or the kayayee girls have their rest, politics is being discussed- and the focus is undeniably, between President John Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo.
It might therefore, not be surprising that one of these candidates might hopefully be crowned president-elect latest, by 08 of December 2012.
And as to how the teeming political supporters and sympathizers with some feelings of entrenched positions might respond to and indeed live with the final verdict of the elections, is yet to be seen.
JusticeGhana will surely, inform its loyal readers and visitors.
