AFAG can't organise without NPP; Adu-Asare mocks AFAG demo
13 November 2014
Presidential staffer, Kojo Adu-Asare has stated unequivocally that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) instigated the ‘Aagbe Wɔ’ to wit [they are killing us] demonstration by pressure group Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG).
According to him, the opposition party used AFAG as a smoke screen to give the protest a national character.
The anti-government pressure group on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 hit some streets in Accra in their numbers in protest of what they say it the unbridled hardship and increasing corruption in the Mahama-led administration.
The NPP National Chairman, Paul Afoko joined the demonstration along with outher NPP National executives and MPs. They included General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, Minority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Dominic Nitiwul, Ursula Owusu, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, National Youth Organizer, Samuel Awuku, Mike Oquaye Jnr. and many others.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday, Adu-Asare said the many NPP apparatchiks who joined the demonstration corroborate his claims.
He stated that the “NPP drowned AFAG completely; but for the NPP, the demonstration would have been a flop”.
The former Adenta Member of Parliament added that AFAG on its own cannot pull crowd if the opposition party does not support them.
However, he said the Mahama-led administration is not perturbed by the ugly noises of the opposition.
“We have signed a social contract with Ghanaians and we are committed to it” he stressed.
Kojo Adu-Asare advised the NPP not to delude themselves into thinking that 2016 election will be a cool chop because “we are working to improve the socio-economic conditions of Ghanaians.
