Allotey claimed the Assin North MP uses his radio station as the platform to incite and inflame ethnic passions: a situation he said could bring mayhem to the country.
Ken Agyapong has been charged with treason following an alleged treasonable statement he made on Oman FM Friday, in reaction to violent attacks on NPP supporters in the ongoing biometric registration in Odododiodio constituency.
However, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a statement has disassociated itself from the Assin North MP’s comment describing it as divisive.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday, Allotey Jacobs bemoaned the level of "unprofessionalism" at Oman FM.
He cited how presenters at station who fear to lose their jobs allow Ken Agyapong to spew out his ethnocentric utterances and abuses on government as examples of the unprofessional conduct of the journalists at the radio station.
Allotey Jacobs added that no serious radio station would allow such intemperate comments on its airwaves especially as the country prepares for a crucial general election.
The NDC’s Central Regional Director of Communications noted that the peace and harmonious co-existence Ghanaians are enjoying is second to none hence government will not allow any individual or group to destroy it.
Allotey reminded Kennedy Agyapong that the Ghana of which he [Ken] claimed to be speaking for, stands to profit nothing from war.
He called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to condemn Ken Agyapong to serve as a deterrent to others who plan to disturb the peace of the nation.
“We should condemn this man [Ken] who always come on air and insult everybody. He thinks that he is above the law; the law must take its course”.
