Ghana Armed Forces And Police Service Collaborate To Ensure Violence Free Polls In December
07 September 2012
Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has reiterated the need for the Ghana Armed Forces to collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to effectively ensure that the December elections are violence-free.
In view of this, the Ghana Armed Forces Council and the Police Council will soon meet to agree on modalities and processes to protect the integrity of the elections.
Vice President Amissah-Arthur said this at a special meeting of the Ghana Armed Forces Council at the Ministry of Defence in Accra.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of the Police, Paul Tawiah Quaye, says there is the need to re-orient police officers on transport and trade facilitation to enhance free movement of goods, vehicles and persons.
In this vein, effective strategies must be adopted to reduce road blocks within the Abidjan-Lagos corridor without compromising on road securities.
Mr. Tawiah Quaye said this in a speech delivered on his behalf at a capacity building seminar on transport and trade facilitation for MTTU personnel in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
