BETTY Refutes 'UK Houses Story'...Says “It’s A Complete And Absolute Fabrication"
{sidebar id=11 align=right}Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mrs. Betty Mould Idrissu, who recently resigned from the Education Ministry, has refuted as, “complete and absolute fabrication”, a widely circulated story published by, The Leicester Recorder, an alleged UK- based media outlet and posted on OMG Ghana, to the effect that she had bought three houses in the United Kingdom (UK) and also, deposited huge amounts of money in a private Barclays bank account in Leicester.
In an interview with our Editor-In-Chief, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, yesterday, the immediate past Education Minister said, “…KWEKU, PLEASE, PLEASE IT IS A COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE FABRICATION. THAT IS THE FIRST THING. THE SECOND THING IS MY BOYS IN THE UK ARE TELLING ME THAT THAT PAPER DOES NOT EXIST EITHER AND THAT THE ONLY PAPER THAT EXIST WITH A NAME CLOSE TO THIS, DOES ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTING FOR THE PEOPLE OF LEICESTER”.
{sidebar id=10 align=right}She continued, “…I HAVE NEVER USED BARCLAYS BANK, HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCOUNT THERE IN MY LIFE; THAT IS THE FIRST THING. THE SECOND THING IS, I DO NOT KNOW THIS KUMAR CHAP; THIRDLY I HAVE NEVER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE PURCHASED A PROPERTY ABROAD EITHER IN MY NAME OR ANYBODY ELSE’S. IT IS A COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE FALSEHOOD.”
Betty Mould, who is expected in the county on a United Flight this morning, however, threatened to sue any media house that does a story on the matter.
The publication by The Leicester Recorder posted on OMG Ghana website alleged that, “Bank officials were alerted when in November 2011, the Minister added London based property developer and jewellery tycoon Dr Sirinath Kumar as a joint beneficiary of the account. Dr Kumar started making the deposits into the account.”
They gave a break down of his recent deposits as follows: 6th November 2011 £45,000, 25th November 2011 £150,000, 15th December 2011 - £120,000, 20th January 2012 £179,000, 18th February £265,000, 23rd March - £86,000, 29th April - 71,000, 8th May - £126,000.
The Bank’s international private banking fraud unit is also reportedly investigating the payment for three houses in the UK. Electronic transcripts show the transfer of an amount of 250,000 pounds to buy one of these properties in Loughton in Essex. The property is located at 252 High Road, Loughton, Essex, IG10 1RB. According to officials, the Minister kept an account with a balance of £6115. 73 at the end of January 2008.
The account number was given as 20756821- SORT CODE-20- 98-07.
When Dr Kumar was questioned, according to the publication, “...he (Dr. Kumar) claimed they were profits from a joint 70 acre citrus, mango and palm plantations in the Western province of Ghana, his property lettings company in Cardiff, Wales as well as his property developments in Cyprus.”
“The officials were however not convinced and alerted its International Private Banking desk in London who called in the Police. Some officials at the bank believe the British Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) should be called in to investigate”, OMG continued.

AFAG calls for probe
{sidebar id=11 align=right}Alliance for Accountable Governance has called for a probe into allegations that embattled Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Attorney-General and Minister Justice owns a fat bank account at the Barclays Bank in the United Kingdom.
The AFAG leadership is therefore calling on the government to investigate the true owner of the said account number which is 20756821, Loughton Esses branch in UK.
{sidebar id=10 align=right}Speaking at a press conference, Abu Ramadan, Director of Operations of AFAG, claimed that over one million pounds sterling was allegedly deposited in Betty’s account whilst she had also acquired three properties within the period she was in government.
AFAG has also given a five-working day ultimatum to government to arrest Betty-Mould Iddrisu, Kwabena Duffour, Finance Minister, and Ebow Barton Odro, Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney-General for prosecution over their involvement in the payment of GH51million judgment debt to Alfred Agbesi Woyome, NDC financier.
Abu Ramadan warned that if the government failed to take action against these persons, AFAG would embark on demonstration to ensure that the principle of equity, accountability, equality and justice for Ghanaians were attained.
Touching on the fresh charges against Alfred Woyome, AFAG spokesperson maintained that the new charges remain a façade and that the group was not surprised because the NDC government had not shown any seriousness to prosecute the case.
Taking a swipe at the International Monetary Fund, AFAG was of the view that the global organization means no good for Ghanaians as it is only interested in giving out loans but not how they are applied to the benefit of the citizenry.
The political pressure group wondered why the IMF was yet to speak on the judgment debt saga but rather chose to advise the government to remove fuel subsidies and consequently increase fuel prices.

Press Release On Ama Benyiwa Doe
11 June 2012
AMA BENYIWA DOE IS A SHAME TO CENTRAL REGION: “We Have had Hon. Jacob Arthur, Isaac Edumadze and Nana Ato Arthur since 1993, but none of them has brought shame, disunity, discord and incompetency on the Office of the Central Regional Minister than HON. MRS AMA BENYIWA DOE.”
Ever since Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe became the Regional Minister for our beloved region, she has brought shame and dragged the name of the most beautiful region into disrepute and the President should rein her in or remove her.
{sidebar id=11 align=right}It is worth noting that even before she became minister, and as women Organizer for the NDC party, Mrs. Benyiwa Doe has always resorted to insults, personality attacks & vilification in all her political campaigns.
Quite recently, she caused a lot of disturbances to the good people of the Asebu traditional Area by attempting to stop the Omanhen of Asebu Traditional Area, Okatakyi Dr. Amenfi VII and his Council of Elders from Honoring His Excellency, President Kuffuor with a chieftaincy title OKROPON. The wickedness of this woman was put on display as she clandestinely, and necodemously delivered a Court injunction restraining the chiefs from going ahead with the festival without a justifiable cause. At the end, the chiefs won and Kuffuor was given the title OKROPON at a colorful durbar at Asebu.
It did not end there. Her Macho men have been terrorizing ordinary Citizens that criticize her poor & incompetent leadership. Notable among these includes:
• Isaac Newton Dyke, a social Commentator, who was beaten up by the Body Guards for criticizing her leadership,
• Mrs. Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of the founder of NDC. who was physically manhandled by her Body Guards during her ‘ASEDA TOUR’ of central region in Cape coast at the town Hall,
• Alottey Jacobs, the Central Regional NDC Communication Director.
The people of Central region thought madam would learn some lessons from these but it was never to be as she continued her unacceptable behavior by insulting her political opponents including the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party and former President Kuffuor.
{sidebar id=10 align=right}She has consistently used her power and influence to abuse and disrespect most of the chiefs in our region. Quite recently, she embarked upon a tour of the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District and kept the Chiefs and people of Moree waiting from 12noon to 5pm. When she finally made it to Moree, she insulted the Chiefs for inquiring why she has kept them waiting for so long.
Again, her unguarded statement accusing Kennedy Agyepong of being the cause of the conflict between Ewes and their Fante Neighbors at Ekumfi Narkwa is shameful and must be condemned by the good people of Ghana. It shows how incompetent she is as the Regional Minister and Chairperson of the Central Regional Security Council. Her outburst is uncalled for and laced with sheer wickedness, gross disrespect for Chiefs, Crass incompetence & Arrant Arrogance not worthy of any Political Appointee.
Her Arrogance and incompetence has gone beyond the rooftops. She has sewn seeds of discord between communities, chiefs and people of most Communities in central region and the earlier she is reined in the better for the Region.
We are by this medium appealing to the powers that be to reconsider her position as the Minister of Central region.
We need peace in central region, we need development and above all, the divide and rule tactics must stop, we need a competent Regional Minister who would unify the people of the region & harness the best of our abilities for the development of our beautiful region. We are:
• the 4th poorest in Ghana,
• 1st in HIV/AIDS infections,
• 1st in malnutrition (80% of Children under 2yrs in central region are malnourished: credit: Samuel Sosi, Regional Nutritionist),
• Quite regrettably, Agro Processing factories have collapsed,
• unemployment is on the ascendency,
• nearly 43% of the population in the region are illiterates,
• low income,
• high rent rate,
• high prices of goods & Services,
• Ordinary people are suffering
• and we expect Madam to lead the region by example so together we can all contribute our quota towards the development of our Region irrespective of our political, ethnic and religious background.
This is our region, and she is our leader, we expect her to be an Asset to us not a liability.
Thank you.
Signed
