WILDAF says its proposal for a woman Vice President was for the country to demonstrate to the international community its utmost commitment to gender equality.

The women’s NGO recounted that the late president Mills was committed to promoting women to occupying high public and political offices and was hopeful President Mahama will consider a woman for the Vice President position.

Director of WILDAF, Bernice Sam in an interview with XYZ News said his group will continue to impress on political parties to put women at the centre of their campaigns.

“We are disappointed because eventually the nominee is a male and not a female but the nomination was done based on the wisdom of his Excellency President John Mahama. “We haven’t had any reflection because we heard the news. So we will be meeting in the coming days to decide on our next line of action.

“Our next line will essentially be looking at highlighting women concerned to all the political parties and ensuring that they put women at the centre of their campaign and their manifesto” Madam Bernice Sam said.
