Load-shedding to continue - ECG

01 April 2014

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has indicated the on-going load shedding programme would continue, despite marginal improvements in power generation in the country.

details

Speaking to Joy News Tuesday, the Public Relations Manager of ECG, William Boateng said electricity consumers will continue to follow the load shedding timetable for two weeks after which stakeholders in the provision of power will meet to review the situation.

According to him, despite the improvements in the generation capacity, "we are not out of the woods yet".

Mr. Boateng however urged consumers to report to the ECG's call centre if their power goes off for more than 12 hours.

After weeks of erratic supply, the power provider last two weeks released a power rationing timetable, which would have consumers to experience 12 hours of blackout during peak time after every 48 hours.

This is the result of non-availability of gas supply from Nigeria and breakdown of some power producing plants.
