Demo against Mahama In London Was Insignificant - Govt
18 June 2013
Government has scoffed at the demonstration against President Mahama by some Ghanaians living in the United Kingdom during his bilateral talks with UK Prime Minister David Cameron over the weekend.
According to Government, the demonstrators were supporters of the main opposition NPP who decided to exercise their right to demonstrate in the United Kingdom.
Reports suggest that the demonstrators picketed around where the president was meeting the UK premier for bilateral talks on his visit.
But addressing the media on Monday, Murtala Mohammed said the number of demonstrators were so insignificant to be given any serious attention.
“People have their right to express their democratic rights…my information is that we had a handful of Ghanaians…I am told there were five or eight there”.
“If people decide to demonstrate against anybody…five people or ten people I don’t think it is something worth our comment” Murtala Mohammed said.
