Govt Releases $100m For Eastern Corridor Road
The Government has released an amount of 100 million dollars for work to begin on the Eastern Corridor Roads. The Eastern corridor road goes through the Volta Region from Hohoe linking the Northern Region through Bimbilla and Yendi.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Joe Gidisu took a familiarization tour to the corridor over the weekend and was greeted with a deplorable road network which in some instances has caused some fatalities.
The situation prompted the Minister to make occasional stops on the stretch from Hohoe to interact with road users explaining to them government’s commitment at solving the problem.
Mr. Gidisu made a firm commitment to the people that this year would be the last for them to go through the horrible experience on the corridor.
Meanwhile, residents and road users along the corridor in an interview with Citi News said threaten to boycott next year’s election if their roads are not constructed. They expressed disappointment at government for not committing to their word in constructing the roads in that corridor.
