Judge Refuses To Sit On Ken Agyepong’s Treason Case
The trial judge sitting on the treason case of embattled Member of Parliament for Assin North constituency, Kennedy Agyapong, has refused to sit on the case because she argued she has no powers to handle such case.
Justice Patricia Quansah has left the case hanging, saying she needs to refer a case of treason to the Chief Justice, Georgina Wood, for advice.
he opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) firebrand was charged with treason and has been in Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) custody since Monday.
The lawyers of Hon. Agyapong have served notice they will head to the Human Rights Courts to seek bail for their client, who has been left idle in court.
The lawmaker faces the death penalty if found guilty in a case, where he has been accused of inciting Akan NPP supporters to attack Gas and Ewes in the country. Hon. Agyapong was speaking last week on his own radio station, Oman FM, where he used statements such as “I declare war” to inflame passion in society.
