Nana Konadu: No one can kick my husband out of N.D.C
The newly-acclaimed flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has insisted that no one can force her husband, former president Jerry John Rawlings from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) despite recent calls for his removal.
Mrs. Rawlings, who was speaking exclusively to Adom News, describes her husband as, founder of the party “an astute politician who knows what he is doing” and he would therefore not be moved by the calls.
The leader of the 31st December Women’s Movement was responding to information from the NDC headquarters reaching Adom News of a meeting by the party’s national executives to decide on whether to dismiss the founder from the party over accusations of breach of the party’s constitution after declaring support for his wife and the NDP.
She says President Rawlings supported the NDP because the NDC has abandoned the principles upon which the NDC was founded, forcing him to support the NDP which he believes is determined to restore the principles of probity, accountability and social justice.
Commenting on the threat by the editor of Al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu to expose the former president over an issue which could have landed him in jail, Mrs. Rawlings dared him to come out with the ‘so called’ information on her or her husband.
She insisted that she had only met Alhaji Bature about three times in her life and will not waste her time on such allegations.
Mrs Rawlings called on all Ghanaians seeking the interest of the nation to join her party, the NDP which believes in entrepreneurial empowerment of the Ghanaian to create more employment, effective decentralization to catapult national development.
She promised good leadership for the NDP as they go into the general elections.
