in the upcoming general elections, he would assemble highly competent team who through meticulous planning and high sense of vision will turn the current lame economy into a vibrant one.

He noted, Ghanaians after comparing the first three and a half years each of ex-president John Agyekum Kufuor’s administration and that of the ruling president, John Evans Atta Mills, should be the better judges.

“Saa wo soa nsuo na wo soa nsa a, na wohu dee emu wo duro” to wit, “it is only when you have carried water and alcohol that you can differentiate which of the two is heavier”, pointing out to Ghanaians to compare under which government of the two governments (NDC or NPP) their standards of living been better.

Nana Akufo-Addo made these known at Daboase in the Wassa East District of the Western Region yesterday, as part of his ‘Listening Tour’ in the region, where he was mobbed by the people amid shouts of “Nana nie, Oson nie”.

He told the enthusiastic crowd that when ex-president Kufuor took over the economy in 2001, the annual cocoa production was 300,000 tonnes, and was able to raise it to 1,000,000 tonnes per year. There had however been a decrease in the annual tonnage during President Mills’ administration.

He wondered why cocoa farmers continued complaining that the Mass Cocoa Spraying Exercise instituted by the Kufuor-led government had been politicized to such an extent that cocoa farms belonging to NPP farmers were left without being sprayed.

“We will revive the Mass Cocoa Spraying Exercise to embrace all cocoa farmers as it used to be because no cocoa farmer should be discriminated against and we shall re-instate the two times bonus system”, he said, amid an applause.

According to the NPP flag bearer, it was only when the Ghanaian child was offered free secondary and technical education that parents would be relieved of the high cost of education and the poor could also climb the educational ladder and contribute towards the nation’s development.

“The NDC has destroyed the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which the NPP established to make health care accessible, easier and more affordable to the ordinary Ghanaian.

We will revamp it when given the nod”, Nana Akufo-Addo added.

He said what had even deepened the woes of farmers was the price of fertilizer which was sold for GH¢9.00 per bag during Kufuor’s administration but now sold for GH¢37.00 per bag in the era of President Mills’ ‘Better Ghana Agenda’.

Alex Agyekum, NPP parliamentary candidate for Mpohor Wassa East Constituency, intimated that Ghanaians being wide awake and discerning would vote out the NDC for being a non-performing government in December 2012.

He called for a more united front among the ranks and file of the party and called on the electorate to vote for him as their humble and committed parliamentary candidate and described Nana Akufo-Addo as “the man of the moment who had a workable message for Ghanaians”.

Mrs. Gladys Asmah, former Minister of Fisheries in the previous government said only the NPP had plans for Ghanaian women, youth and children, and that the records between 2001 and 2008 were glaring for all to see.

“The over GH¢51million doled out to Alfred Agbesi Woyome, an NDC financier for no work done, could have purchased 520 ‘Kufuor buses’ for Ghana’s transport sector. That is NDC for you”, she concluded.
