Minister Chants NPP Slogan At NDC Meeting
The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong, on Monday shocked the Eastern Regional executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) when she chanted the slogan of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), during a meeting with the National chairman of the party, Dr. Kwabena Adjei at the Residency.
The deputy minister, chanted "kukurudu kukurudu kukurudu" to prepare the grounds for her welcome address.
The deputy minister realized the blunder when her attention was drawn to it, compelling her to apologize. Some of the executives wondered why the deputy minister could commit such an unpardonable mistake.
The meeting with the regional executives formed part of Dr Adjei’s campaign tour of the region which started on Monday. Dr. Adjei and his campaign team also held a meeting with other party executives from some five constituencies.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Dr. Adjei stated that his chances of retaining the chairmanship position are bright having weighed the massive thumps up from party delegates in five regions visited so far.
He said his track record of bringing the party to power from opposition and support given to the party grassroots would be translated into massive endorsement for continuation from the delegates.
He described as laughable accusations by his competitors that he is too dull. According to him, chairmanship position is a statesmanship seat, hence, the need to calm down and work underground for the success of the party.
"We need diplomacy and statecraft, we are not in revolutionary era where we do things bugabuga, we use wisdom and knowledge to manage the party-who in the NDC is more wild than me...? Go and check my background," he challenged.
He said the NDC cannot afford to lose the 2016 general election; therefore, there is the need for the delegates to maintain a winning team that would work hard to increase the current votes of the party. Dr Adjei and his campaign team are expected to be in the region for three days to meet delegates of the party.
