Mfantsipim Honours 4 Top Lawyers
Four prominent Ghanaian lawyers are to be honoured at the 138th Mfantsipim National Fund-Raising Dinner Dance and Awards night in Accra scheduled for August 22, 2014.
The four lawyers – Tsatsu Tsikata, Philip Addison, Frank Davies and Alex Quaynor – all old boys of Mfantsipim, are being honoured as Mfantsipim Brand Icons for the excellent roles they played in the recent historic election petition at the Supreme Court.
They form the first batch of old boys to be honoured this year.
While Tsatsu Tsikata represented the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), the three – Philip Addison, Esq. Frank Davies and Alex Quaynor – represented Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2012 presidential candidate and his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (NPP), Chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and the party’s General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as ‘Sir John’.
They not only excelled at the 10-month contentious case but also exhibited the traits of the Mfantsipim Brand and values that have endeared the school to the world.
Their actions also showcased the Mfantsipim heritage of producing individuals who rise above partisanship and exude selfless leadership to render service to the community, the nation and the continent.
JKA Simpson, headmaster of Mfantsipim, speaking on the awards, intimated that “as far as we were concerned it was Mfantsipim on show throughout the period of the case and it was Mfantsipim Brand, which was the ultimate winner; and especially as they added value to the school’s global image and accomplishments.”
Next month’s national event being hosted by the 1984 Sponsoring Year Group of Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) under the theme, ‘Let’s Begin to Dream Again for Mfantsipim,’ would be held at the main foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) with AB Crentsil and Paapa Yankson – two famous artists – performing.
