Ghana Needs Electoral Reforms - F.W De Klerk
Former South African President, F.W De Klerk has backed calls on the need for electoral reforms in Ghana. “Analysing what the court has said, it is clear that there is a need to take a good hard look at possible electoral reforms,” Mr. De Klerk said.
According to him, the election petition filed by Nana Addo and two others exposed serious lapses within the country’s electoral system.
At a meeting with the New Patroitic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate in the 2012 elections, Nana Akufo Addo at his Nima residence, the Former South African leader said Nana Addo and the NPP have demonstrated their belief in democracy and muat be commended.
“Your reaction accepting the decision of the court notwithstanding the fact that you don’t fully agree with it, I think was admirable and appreciated even beyond Africa as a sign of true leadership” he said.
He also wished Ghana well in the process which he said had “become inevitable.”
Meanwhile, Nana Akufo Addo assured the Former South African leader of his party’s preparedness to play an active role in ensuing electoral reforms.
