President Mahama gave this commendation when he received Mr Bill Gates at the Flagstaff House.

Mr Bill Gates is in Ghana for a two-day working visit to see some of the projects his Foundation is executing and to participate in the immunization tour.

President Mahama said the support from the Bill Gates’ Foundation had helped to boost the nutritional needs of children and increase school enrolment, making Ghana reach the universal enrolment level.

On malaria, President Mahama stated that government was using new methods of tackling the malaria parasite by the use of Bio Lavaesite to supplement the existing methods.

President Mahama however expressed disappointment over Ghana's poor show in handling sanitation and maternal mortality, making Ghana lag behind achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).

The President assured that the government was adopting new ways of tackling the sanitation situation in the country.

Mr. Bill Gates said he was in the country to observe Ghana's healthcare system and the need to replicate it elsewhere and promised to partner with Ghana to ensure that the health needs of the people are met in the coming years.
