THE PRESIDENTIAL Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December 2012 general elections, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, together with other prominent personalities in the country have been penciled for special awards for their various contributions to the development of humanity and growth of democracy in the country.
The Peristrofi Honorary International Award, instituted in 2009, is one of the world’s renowned awards bestowed on result-oriented and hardworking people for their contribution to socio-economic development in their fields of discipline.
This award is given to individuals who have distinguished themselves in their respective countries and have helped facilitate positive changes in their countries.
The prominent individuals are set to receive their meritorious awards and honours at a ceremony to be held later this year, for their immense contributions for the sustenance of peace and democracy and the socio-economic development of the country.
The other awardees include the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kumasi, Most Rev. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, the Omanhene of Tepa Traditional Area, Nana Adusei Atwenewaa Ampem II and the former Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer of Kumasi, now Regional Minister for the Central Region, Hon. Samuel Sarpong.
The award, christened “Peristrofi World Honorary Award” is under the auspices of the Swedish Institute of Pentecostal Studies, involves conferring of Honorary Ambassador of Rural Development-West African Development (Ambassador/His Excellency) and also Doctor of Social Services (DSS).
Though organizers of the award are keeping details close to their chest, The Chronicle has gathered from a reliable source that the programme, scheduled for December 22, this year, would be held in Kumasi with a number of prominent persons, both local and international, expected to attend.
Past receivers of the award include the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, MP for Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former Minister for Foreign Affairs and ex-MP for New Juabeng.
Hon. Hackman Owusu Agyemang and the Very Reverend Dr. Emmanuel Kormla Gbordzoe, former Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, Ghana.
