Even before Ebola began to ravage Liberia, the country didn't have nearly enough doctors to treat its population. Since the beginning of the deadly outbreak, that number has been dwindling: some doctors working with Ebola patients have died, while others have left the country altogether.

Samuel Atta Akyea, counsel for former President Jerry John Rawlings – in a case in which the former president is seeking to place an injunction on the launching of a book by Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, Ghana’s immediate past High Commissioner to the United Kingdom – has told an Accra Fast Track High Court that the final draft on the two parties’ agreement to settle the matter out of court, was almost ready.

At KNUST we used to have a saying that: “when there is no ‘there’, you cannot force ‘there’ to be there”. This is what happened to Mr Allan Kyeremanteng on Saturday 18th October. That he was going to lose was not in doubt but the scale of the loss was not anticipated even amongst the most optimistic of Akuffo Addo supporters. What then could have accounted for such a drubbing? I see four inter-related factors: his positioning, his lack of contextual intelligence, his strategy, and finally, his message.
