Prez Mills visits plane crash victims; Minister says airspace is still the safest
The Deputy Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor, has stated that Ghana’s airspace still remains one of the best in Africa despite last night’s plane crash which claimed ten lives.
A Nigerian Allied Air cargo aircraft while trying to land, overshot the runway, crashed into the walls of the airport and in the process collided with a Mini-Van killing all passengers in the car.
The crew of four on board the aircraft all survived the accident and are currently receiving treatment at the airport clinic.
Madam Dzifa Attivor who was the accident scene told XYZ News, the incident should not create panic among travellers since Ghana’s airspace is safe.
She stated that it was an unfortunate happening and investigations into the incidents will help understand what actually happened.
Madam Attivor said “as a government we are not happy. That is how come the investigation body will start its work to unravel what actually happened,” adding “the airport is still safe. People can travel to wherever they want to go and I have always maintained that our aviation airspace is one of the safest in the sub-region.”
Meanwhile, President Mills has visited the accident scene and the victims who survived the plane crash to commiserate with them.
He has also assured the families of the victims who died in the accident of government’s commitment to ensure that the truth is unraveled.
