Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings will contest for the presidential seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Party (NDP) in the 2016 general elections.

Samuel Appiah, the Ashanti Regional Deputy Chairman of the NDP, stated that the former Fist Lady and founder of the party, would definitely be picked to lead it.

He noted that the members of the NDP across the country as well as the executives, were firmly behind Nana Konadu to lead the NDP as flagbearer for the 2016 elections.

Mr. Appiah made the assertion recently when the interim Ashanti Regional Executives of the NDP were being inaugurated. The event attracted some big wigs of the party, including Nana Konadu and Dr. Josiah Aryeh, the National Chairman.

“Whether Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings likes it or not, the NDP leadership, and for that matter, all members of the party, will elect her as our presidential candidate for the next elections,” Mr. Appiah underscored.

He added that Nana Konadu has the wherewithal to win the 2016 presidential election and implement better policies and programmes that would make Ghana a better place to live.

The NDP Deputy Ashanti Regional Chairman’s endorsement of Nana Konadu seemed to have been welcome by the teeming supporters present at the function, as they responded to his remarks with loud applause.

Mr. Appiah observed that Nana Konadu has a good heart to transform Ghana and make the country better for the citizenry to enjoy hence, the decision of the party to push her for the presidency.

According to him, the NDP would offer the available support that Nana Konadu would need so that she would make history by becoming the fist female president of the country.

Mr. Appiah said Ghanaians recent problems, which seem to have overwhelmed the NDC government, led by president Mahama, would come to pass when Nana Konadu became president.

He said Ghana needed a selfless and hard working person like Nana Konadu as its president to transform the country so that the hope of the citizenry, which has been dashed, would be restored.

According to the Ashanti Regional Chairman, the party has a special role to play in the 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections, charging its loyalties to start campaigning.
